Holiday Activities – By Cameron

  1. Write a book or poem. This may seem very easy but writing good books can be very fun while challenging. Try writing about something different or something you have always dream about or want to do. Make it exciting, with lots of micro problems and big boss fights if you want to try and have an adventure or fantasy style book or really cute with lots of fairies if you want to do a fairy tale. Also don’t take the easy way out with basic plots and be over in just one page. Try to make it as long as you possibly can.
  2. Make a code and send messages to your friends. You can either make up your own code or follow this almost uncrackable code which can be used to send simple messages securely. First write out your message which you want to encode. Go two letters back on the Caesar Shift. Now make a codeword such as “chips” and use those letters on Blaise De Vernons table. Now write a letter but have a double space when the next letter is part of the code. Now your agent must look for the double spaces and the next letter will be in the code. They go along the table with the codeword and then go two letters forward with the Caesar shift and then the message is revealed!

Technology with Eugene! – By Lexi room 11

Hi, my name is Lexi, and I come from Eugene’s year 5 class.

Every Friday, class 11 and 12 take turns going with Eugene to do technology!

In technology, we get to design cool things that actually work! I am making a thing that lights up at night as well as a torch.

From home, we had to bring a shoe box that wasn’t needed, a few battery holders along with batteries, and a few broken things.

Next we had to think about how the circuits work and how we could turn the lights on and off.

Even though it was a bit tricky for many people, everyone was still having heaps of fun!

Bye!

Geometry in Rm11 by Matilda

  • In geometry the past few lessons we have been learning about geometric shapes around the world.
  • Firstly, we surfed the internet for a building made entirely or mostly of geometric shapes.
  • Secondly, we researched this place and got facts about the architect and where it’s from. eg: The Louvre, The Cube Houses of Rotterdam and The Mall’s Balls.
  • Thirdly, we collated the information and wrote it down in a word document.
  • Lastly, we printed it out and proof read it for spelling errors.

Portraits with Kingsley – By Nikita Room 12

Some Days when Lindsey is away, we have a different teacher, Kingsley. He is fun and he introduced a new game to the class, Cops and Robbers, but now it is getting a little bit annoying. He is a great writer, and he tells his stories to us, they are exciting, and  he puts great expression into his voice.

One time when Lindsey was away, Kingsley came on a Friday, and Fridays are when we do art. So we did art with Kingsley instead!

We firstly drew a frame to work off, which was a few lines. Then we drew all the facial features, eg: the eyes, the nose, lips, cheeks, hair, etc. Lastly we shaded in the whole picture with charcoal pencils.

All of the drawings looked beautiful!
